From the Archives: I just think this is funny. I definitely still think this about High School Musial but like a hundred million kids love it to distraction and parents are willing to take them to it, so, I won't complain too much. Kids could instead be watching trash on MTV or VH1 and growing up entirely too soon in the process.
Overacting.
Lipsyncing.
Heaven help us, overacting while lipsyncing.
This was what ruined what should have been and could have been a very adorable movie.
So, I finally saw High School Musical and I am not mad I waited, since it didn't even come close to living up to its hype. My guess is that this movie is good compared to the offerings of late for kids, preteens, and teens. Which is just sad. Whatever happened to the plethora of kid and teen friendly movies that used to come out and that our parents were forced to take us to and had to later admit were just plain old fun. I'm talking about the PG and PG-13 movies that were littered throughout the 80s and early 90s. Its a shame that movies have become so lacking that High School Musical is viewed as the second coming by comparison.
